The Talented Miss Farwell is a study of a young woman whose life becomes ruled by a passion for fine art and the ease with which she can "borrow" money from her workplace. It begins with a small "loan" to purchase a small painting she loves and covets.

Her youth was fraught with poverty and penny pinching. Even though she was a whiz at math, college was unreachable. Consequently, she takes a "temporary" job with the town hall to keep her father and herself above financial distress. Her first borrowing began during this period with the puchase of the small painting. As her responsibility increases, so, too, do her purchases. She builds a fortune in fine art before her thefts are discovered.

This is a most interesting story well worth reading. The author's style takes one step by step into her life.
