Very well written first in series. (Definitely hope it's to be a series). Story centered around a relief vet in small town. While realizing a vet would have a large number of clients/patients, the large number of characters made it a bit slower to read as I had to spend time remembering who was who. Not sure less characters would have made easier but less interesting or perhaps a bit more character development for people as was done with the pets? A few minor editing errors such as "women" instead of the correct "woman". And confusing name of Sandy's cousin - Frankie and the a page later - Freddie. Good storyline with liikable characters, & plot solid until one character suddenly more to the forefront which helped me figure out whodunit but not the whys. I am looking forward to reading more Eileen's Kate Turner mysteries. Highly recommended especially for cozy and animal lovers mystery readers.
