I really enjoyed this book. Prior to ordering it, I had read the reviews and noticed a lot of people commented on the fact that they didn't like it because the story was told from Sookie's point of view. I didn't really understand why this was a problem, because a LOT of books are written that way. Perhaps books in this particular genre about vampires and what tend not to be written that way? Anyway, I decided if that was the only negative thing I really saw about the book it was worth a try. It had been turned into a TV show after all so it's couldn't be all bad.

I'm definitely glad I did decide to order this book. In my opinion is was a great read. I couldn't put it down and just ordered the second and third book in the series. I actually really enjoyed that Sookie acted pretty normal (with the exception of being able to read minds). Many of the other books out there about Vampires are way over the top melodramatic. I liked the way this story plot has the extraordinary being part of the ordinary life. Small town Louisiana being shook up a little bit. This is especially entertaining because I recently moved to such a town last year. Anyway, I would suggest giving this book a try if you are like a nice mix of comedy, romance, and adventure!
