Sara Seale's romance books are both old-fashioned and unique. In each book, she creates a whole world within itself. Were there any worlds out there like hers, either then or now? The story lines are character-driven; no deep or detailed plots get in the way of the character's discovering each other. The Forbidden Island is about a young, rather naive young woman (a specialty of Seale) who gets stuck on an island off the coast of Scotland when the laird "kidnaps" her in order to force her older cousin to come back to the island and face "justice" for seducing an island inmate. The plot is out-of-date but within the realm of Seale's world, still interesting. If you like Sara Seale's books or other books of this era, you will enjoy this one.
