ISBN 086112619x - Counting books abound; board books are common. It's hard for any book to stand out from that crowd, and Ten Little Chicks doesn't do that, but it's still a nice, slightly better than average attempt.

In the style of Ten Little Indians, Ten Little Chicks counts down from 10 to 1 as the group wanders the farm and, one by one, they drop out of group activities. Not to worry about the one lonely chick, however! That chick finds all his friends tucked up in their nest.

The tabs at the top of the book show all ten of the chicks for a quick count at any point. The pages are standard board book, sturdy enough to stand up to toddlers and thick enough for small fingers to turn easily. The rhyme, by Belinda Bagley is cute and smooth and Lesley K. Blackman's illustrations are bright, colorful and super cute. Not the best counting book in the world, but children will enjoy it. Marked for children of 1-3 years.
