Josh G., who kindly supplied this book, noted "I had high hopes for this book, but I find it to be quite vague." I agree. The author had an interesting life, but it is a very personal book. For example, she was a reporter in wartime Italy, but shares little of the larger picture with readers. The book by Ms. Vanderbilt? is still remembered by me because she spoke in a bit of detail about society life early in the last century and of their arduous trip to escape the Nazis via southern France and Spain.
I liked best the note from her husband chiding her about running up the telephone bill.
No Index, so my evaluation is reduced by one star.
