This was not what I expected at all. I'm glad I didn't spend any money on this one. How many ads can you really read before you get bored out of your mind?
These ads come from the London Book Review so most of the humor in it is vastly different than anything over here. Some were worthy of a chuckle but that's really the best part of the book. Most of the ads were either totally boring, downright stupid, or just plain didn't make any sense. My hardcover edition of the book is 165 pages long. Besides a few pages in the back giving a timeline of Evil Kneivel's injuries (where did THAT come from?) the entire book consists of personal ads. Over 150 pages of PERSONAL ADS. Some of them were repeats and others you could tell were from the same person.
Personally, I find it a little scary that there are people sitting in their homes, pens poised, trying to find the wittiest things to say for a personal ad. Maybe that's just me though.
