Helpful Score: 2
The premise behind the book is a very promising one. The first chapter or two draws the reader in with the promise of a fantastic story, even if the writing is a little less sophisticated than expected.
However, that promise soon gives way to the bitter reality of disappointment. The story ends up being surprisingly one- dimensional considering the almost omniscient presence of our narrator. The author suggests grand ideas- these hints for a great plot- but never cultivates any of them! And she has so much to work with! In the end, the reader is left with this cliched and sentimental, poorly written, underdeveloped, outlandish story that leaves you resentful and insulted.
