I'm kind of torn about how I feel about this book. Some parts were interesting, while others were rather irritating.
I enjoyed a few of the characters, although I do wish that the author had spent a bit more time on actual character development. There is some potential for better development in future installments.
One thing I did not like was how totally inept the author made the police in this cozy. While it's quite common for a degree of police ineptitude to show up in these types of mysteries, this author writes this cliche into her story at a whole new level of irritating.
The actual murderer was quite easy to figure out, and I had them pegged very early on, which diminished my overall satisfaction with the story. I did enjoy the "clues" the victim left behind, but I thought they were far too easily figured out. There was no real suspense at all.
I will give this series one more shot to see if book 2 is any better, but I won't rush out to buy it.
