I have to admit that the writing in the first few pages seemed annoying. There were three metaphors using food in the first paragraph of page one! But soon after the descriptions smoothed out and became background for a great story. I read the whole thing before I realized that many of the people in the book are based on real characters. I have not read her first book yet but plan to as soon as I can get it in my hands. This was a quick and enjoyable read.
