A soap opera. That is what Traviss has turned this series into. From a hardhitting start with the first 2 Republic Commando novels, this fifth, the first in the Imperial Commando series, gets very drama'y.

Traviss continues with her Ant-Jedi campaign, and uses several instances of Jedi callousness and coldness to show how bad they all are/were. Since she is the author, she can make up whatever she wants to fit her viewpoint.

The clones have all turned into big babies or drama queens. One minute Darman wants nothing more than to go back to Mandalore and be with his son, the next he thinks he can protect Kad more effectively from within and the next he decides only HE can protect his son, from everybody. I miss the "pull the trigger" clones from the first book :-( And Skiraata? Don't get me started. Traviss has turned him into a tremulous, second guessing, querulous old man. Maybe if his daughter held his hand and they sang "Kum by ya" everybody would "feel" better.

Give me back my action, my fighting, my tough guys. This book, sadly, was Star Wars on Dr. Phil [no offense to Dr Phil].
