A great story! I picked up this book not knowing that it was connected to "All Through the Night", which I also enjoyed, but that was a bonus. Connie Brockway writes some light humorous books("The Other Guy's Bride") and some pretty dark stuff("All Through the Night") and it's unusual for an author to be able to do both so well. This book fell about halfway between. There are some very funny scenes(especially the opening scene, where the heroine impersonates a madwoman) but over all the tone is serious. The heroine is very intelligent, but also has good intuition and trusts her instincts. The hero is a very sensitive guy hiding behind a rakish veneer, which does not fool her for one minute. I thoroughly enjoyed it, 4 stars.
