One of the most memorable pieces of what's called 'women's fiction' I've ever read. Most women's fiction I read is like Chinese food; good (or not so good) at the time but soon forgotten, but this one has stuck with me ever since I first read it 4 years ago. I've never forgotten Eldora and I doubt I ever will.

I was also impressed at how accurately the author caught the 'feel' of the 50s-60s, when Eldora was young -- the choices she faced, the way things were then.
