I am completely surprised at how many reviews I have read, and conversations I have had with people who said that this book lacked "good writing", and character development. However, I am like the many thousands of people who enjoyed this book so much that I went on to read all of the other books in Meyer's series.

I have always loved to read, and I teach reading at a K-8 school. I read lots of books! I read books that have been written from Kindergarten to Young Adult enjoyment and reading level. My opinion is that this book as well as the other 3 in the series were not written for any other reason than to be entertaining: fantasies that young readers would enjoy because they could relate to the characters in the stories. As a 61 year old teacher, mother and grandmother to 5 girls, I read these books with young adults in mind. The girls at my school love these books, as does my 15 year old granddaughter! They READ them. They are not texting on their phones, or listening to music or playing computer games! Many of them have branched out to read other books by other authors.

While I read these books as part of my work, I found these books delightful, entertaining, and enjoyed them immensely! And as I said, I am not a teenage girl!
