Stress Test is a book I thoroughly enjoyed! Richard Mabry writes a thrilling novel that may not have you sitting on the edge of your seat, but it will have you flipping pages until the end. I had kind of mixed feelings on this one when I first got it because I like mystery and suspense books, but I don't like all the medical terms and stuff which you normally find in books like this. Half the time you don't know what they are talking about, if you know what I mean. Sometimes it is hard to get medical talk down to a common reader. Well, my fears were all in vain. This book was easy to understand and even with the medical jargon, I knew exactly what he was talking about by his explanations.
The hero of the book, Matt Newman, is a doctor who has the good life. Sure it is hectic but he enjoys helping people and he has nice dreams of getting to know a girl more. All that changes one night as he is leaving the hospital and gets kidnapped. From that night his life is changed forever. He manages to escape but while doing so he injures himself and passes out. When he comes to in a hospital, he is accused of murder and doesn't know how to get out of it. His lawyer, Sandra Murray, has a premonition he is being framed but has to work hard to clear him. While she does so, she also has to fight her growing feelings for Matt. After all, she just broke up with another doctor. These two fight their way through a long battle that has people turning on each other and some even getting killed, but in the end, Matt learns a lesson that will help him through the rest of his life.
So, my thoughts by the end of the book? Where is the next one!! There is an excerpt from Dr. Mabry's next book and I am already pulled in:) Great writing, excellent characters and a plot that has you reading late into the night. These all combine for a book that will go on your keeper shelf, unless you are like me, who passes it around for others to read. Excellent!!
