I really enjoyed this! I didn't realize it was 700+ pages until I began reading it on kindle. It was never boring though. There is a lot going on and it is life and death exciting with heart. Our protagonist is Gwen Lark, one of four siblings. The premise is a deadly asteroid is on a collision course with Earth and will wipe out the human race. Alien ships arrive carrying "humans" from the lost city of Atlantis that left Earth in ancient times and found a new planet to make their home. They offer to save a portion of the human race if they "qualify". Those older than 11 but under 20 are put through tests to initially qualify, then grueling training to make semi finals. Then again for a brutal final qualification to board the ships to leave Earth. They must qualify or die. Their parents and families are left behind to await Earth's fate. It's an exciting ride rooting for these characters through life and death trials. It ends well enough but this is the first of a series which I will continue.
