I enjoyed the romance between Layel the vampire king and Delilah the amazon warrior. However, I did not like the prolonged "Survivor"-like enforced adventure on the island. The five Gods displayed typical God-like behavior - thoughtless, cruel and only out for their own enjoyment. The adventure went on for way too long and got tedious.

I liked Layel but found his 200+ years penance endearing and yet annoying at the same time. He had his future in front of him and refused to see it. Delilah was immediately hit by the love bug and her love never faltered even when Layel was intentionally cruel.

I found the ending too pat as if the author finally got tired of the story and just ended it. After torturing all of them week after week, all of a sudden the Gods were caring and understanding? The conclusion was just too forced. The previous three books were terrific but this one just okay, not really a good ending to the series
