Saffron was rescued from Declan in the previous book by Camdyn. She was blinded and tortured by Declan for 3 years. She is still dealing with the trauma of captivity. Her sight was restored by Dani. She is drawn to Camdyn and he to her (her magic feels different to him).
I had a harder time getting into this book, I'm not sure if it was my mood or because it's been awhile since I read book 2. (Not going to wait as long to read book 4). Saffron and Camdyn were likeable, but I didn't really connect with them. The strength in this series is the appearance of everyone else who is coupled up and those whose coupledom is coming in future books.
I am happy to say the Deirdre storyline comes to a conclusion in this one. After dragging out for 9 books (yes, 9- the 6 books in the "Dark Sword" and this being #3 in the Dark Warriors series), it was anti-climatic and quick. Deirdre's situation/story was getting old and I'm glad that is concluded. There is still Declan to contend with and hopefully does NOT drag out either (3 and counting).
Malcolm makes a move (finally). Phelan and Charon chose a side (also finally). Next book is Tara (Saffron had a vision of Declan hunting her). I think a character guide is in order (I think Tara may have had a brief POV in book 2).
