HANNAH'S PROMISE wasn't great and neither is this second installment in this trilogy. It's been some time since I read the first book and I'd forgotten how disappointed I was in it.

Jacey goes on this long quest because someone has stolen a portrait. The reason did not seem valid enough to cause Jacey to go to so much trouble. Neither Zant nor Jacey were very interesting and before long, I didn't care if they stayed together or not.

The story meanders around with Jacey trying to make people believe that her (deceased) father is again walking the streets of Tucson. Then Zant talks Jacey into going to find the 5 remaining members of the old gang and see if any of them know anything. After that, Zant takes Jacey to his home in Sonora because his grandfather has an ax to grind against Jacey.

XXXSPOILER ALERT XXX At the end, we are told that there were two killers, one for each parent! I can't believe I read the whole thing.
