This was a perfectly competent novel, just not the sort of thing I really enjoy. It's exactly like that slew of Ashley Judd -starring thrillers in the 90s/2000s -- there's no real mystery about who the killer is, and there's no real tension in the romantic element, but if you like the leads you'll like the book. I couldn't say it was badly written, but it was obviously written; there was no real atmosphere or character development, but the plot moved quickly and the resolution worked.
