This well written mystery touches on the politics behind the colonization of Africa and shows just how separate the "spheres" were for men and women in England during that time. An interesting read with a good mystery too! I enjoy Thomas (now superintendent of police) and his wife Charlotte (who married "beneath" her as she is a lady) very much. Each brings special skills to their shared task of solving the crime. Excellent appearance by Charlotte's great-aunt Vespasia as well.
