I read THE MOVING FINGER for the April 2016 "Cozy Mystery" theme in my online book club, The Reading Cove. I'm sorry to say that I found it rather dull...and much too contrived for comfort.

Jerry and his sister Joanna rent a house in a small town in England so Jerry can recover from an accident. Why in the world would any two strangers remain in a town like this for convalescence?? It makes no sense.

From the moment they received a poison pen letter, and people started killing themselves and murdering each other, they should've high-tailed it out of there and gone back home! Or simply found somewhere else to recuperate. Is it just me, or...duh?

I was totally disinterested in the whodunnit because Jerry and Joanna's continued presence seemed almost painfully counterintuitive. Suspending that much disbelief would be akin to dumbing yourself down way too much.

Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, but this just isn't a thinking person's read. 2/5 stars.
