A stranger stops in Laurel's bookstore and asks her to go and visit her father in Key West. Her dad walked out on his wife and child to marry another woman and Laurel's deceased mom taught her daughter to hate the man. Laurel has always wondered about him. He is a famous author and she has read all his books. She decides to go and finds she has two half sisters and a mystery surrounding the death of their mother who died in the orchid house on their property. Include a treasure hunter and modern day pirates, and you have a lot of mysteries for Laurel to solve.
