When Lady Marion goes to a convent to seek refuge from her vicious guardian, Harold Peasely, her group is attacked. The knights of Campion, two of the seven Burgh brothers, find her collapsed in the roadway and bring her home because she remembers nothing.
Marion finds a good home with them and serves as chatelaine until Peasely's eldest son, Dunstan arrives demanding her return.
The dastardly Peasely suggests that one of his sons marry Marion to keep her legally captive, and since Dunstan is the only brother who doesn't think of her as a sister, he is appointed the bridegroom.
Marion has no intention of letting Dunstan bully her, but a series of futile attempts at escape change the nature of their relationship. Soon it becomes apparent that only marriage can save her.
