A very good textbook. The concepts in each chapter are logically explained in detail including tables, color pictures, and descriptive wording, and the answers to the questions at the end of each chapter to test your understanding are found in the back of the book. Of all the introductory O-chem textbooks I've requested, this is one of the better ones. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning the subject matter. The information is specific and not just a general overview, and does a good job at helping you learn it. The only complaints I had were with some of the later chapters where required information is not given, making answering the in-text questions impossible for the student... somewhat frustrating. I would highly recommed getting "General, Organic, and Biochemistry" by Katherine J Denniston, Joseph J Topping, & Robert L Caret should you pick up this text (or instead of this text) as it will much better explain all areas where McMurray's is lacking. I found myself flipping through Caret's text every time I got stuck here, finding the answers every time.
