I've never read a book that is so well-balanced as this one--well, the whole series, actually. It is:
well-researched
authentic
funny as all get-out!! (I convinced my husband to read the series too, but he refused to start until I finished the 2nd book, to make sure it stayed awesome, and it did, but I can't keep from telling him the funny parts, he's so mad, lol!!) (even now, the words "Thor," gravy" or "goatf*cker" send me into side-splitting uncontrollable bouts of laughter)
great battle scenes
has it all: vampires, werewolves, ghouls, gods, godesses, elementals, intelligent animals, witches, demons, fallen angels, fae, Kabbalah...you want it, it's in there! (And if you're fed up or tired of any of these--you should still read this because it's DIFFERENT, I promise! This is NOT a series trying to imitate a different one, or trying to ride on another one's coattails.
proper momentum--there's a sense of urgency in book 2, which is how it should be, since usually book 2 is kind of boring due to world-building and setting the scene for upcoming books

It all adds up to this: You do not want to miss this series! You should not miss this series! I can't wait for more from this author!!

Book 4 is Tricked, out in April 2012.
