I thought the story line sounded good and I really wanted to like the book, but the delivery was severely lacking. I found myself skimming after about 30% until about 50% on my Fire waiting for something to happen. Nothing did. It was filled with mundane details that did nothing for the story.

Character development was lacking. It would have been nice to have some insight as to what Capt Wyatt's problem before near the end of the book. The female main character, Rose, was perfect in every way. Too perfect. Charleston society shut her out so she wiled away her time going through junk in the attic. That's what I got from the first half of the book.

Someone else mentioned the inaccuracies from an historical aspect. She wouldn't have been able to own property and absolutely would not have been able to give the house to her former slaves. The author made it sound like travel back and forth to Ireland was quick and easy. It was anything but. I could go on, but it's not worth it.

The descriptions of the Irish hills and her new home were nice and it was a predictable ending.
