Sometimes with books about other worlds and realities, it's hard to visualize but the author makes you see and the characters are very likable.
Nyssa has curious holes in her memory as well as the ability to leave her body and travel back in time, but ghosts plague her. When the aloof executioner Abrial is directed to bring Nyssa to Cadalach, he jumps at the chance but soon finds himself falling in love, and the couple faces a journey fraught with danger. The FBI, Humans Under Ground, goblins, ghosts, and a hobgoblin are all on their trail, not only in this world but also in the dreamlands.
From the description in the back, I didn't expect to like this book much. I started it and did not emerge until the end. Unlike many serial books, you don't get lost trying to figure out family trees and you're given just enough background to understand all the players. Characters from past books are intriguing just enough to make you look for their book and not bore you.
