A fun collection of stories about women having issues with relationships, jobs, reality etc. I burned through Crane's more recent work, All This Heavenly Glory and immediately requested this one. I really enjoyed ATHG and was a little disappointed at how similar and almost redundant this was, in that When the Messenger is Hot seemed to be a lot of thinly veiled autobiography. Even though the protagonists in Crane's stories all have different names, they all seem rather similar. Still, it's entertaining, and stands out among books I've read lately.
