Very interesting mystery/thriller. A reporter for a rag is disillusioned about her job of movie critic. She The owner of her paper lets her live in the pool house of a vacant mansion that he and investors own to rent out for parties. One duty as caretaker (instead of rent) includes sleeping over in the mansion and checking for damage the next morning. After checking for damage, she goes to the pool house for coffee and a shower. She findsthe door wide open and a dead woman in her bathtub. Seeing her chance to write a real story, she delays calling the cops and collects info to get an inside track in the investigation.

Bad idea. More murders including a 60 year old murder, attempts on her life, and many lies later she ends up half dead and exhausted. Finally, everything falls into place.

Good book. 4 stars
