OMG--this is an awesome book and a great start to the series. I read book 2 first, but that was OK--Book 1 filled in the gaps adequately. The characters ring true, and so do the descriptions of the U.P. (Upper Peninsula of Michigan). I would warn everyone not to start reading one of Heywood's books too late in the evening--you won't be able to put it down, and you will be exhausted the next day because you will be up all night reading. If there is one thing I would change/like, it would be to make the protagonist a little more human--a few more meals, showers, and changes of clothes would lesson the "superman" thing. I can't wait to read the next book!
