It's nice to see Brody settling back in Lonesome Bend repairing relationships with his family and former lover. Carolyn's insecurities make her feel like a real person and her friendship with Tricia (from the last book) is a nice addition. There's a wonderful romantic date, horseback rides, and charming small town secondary characters. The few words exchanged between Brody and his father figure are perfect.
