I had a difficult time making it through this book. The characters were not very like-able, at one point they were throwing the f-bomb at each other in a small town restaurant. Details didn't fit, such as a few weeks old baby changing easily from breast to bottle. The only men in the book were predator type and not to be trusted, which feeds into the push for abortion ease, esp. when a 40+ gets pregnant by date rape. Seemed the reason for close women friendships was because the men were not to be trusted, very limited perspective.
The author looks back to when the women were young, but it is so rambling and long that I would wonder where I was in the main story by the time she got back to it. Especially in respect to the baby, her age didn't make sense, so it made me go back over the whole story line. Perhaps she should have slummed it with a few moms for some insight when writing the character who becomes a mom.
All in all it seemed like listening to someone tell a very long winded story in a negative manner, that I just wished she would just get to the point.
I so wanted to like this book, as I received it from goodreads.com and love getting free books.
