I have read a couple of Kathleen Morgan's other books but those were all part of her Highland Hills Series so this was somewhat of a different read for me. But I definitely enjoyed it! I liked how the storytelling makes you feel like you are really there in the rockies. The author portrays how wild and vicious it was back then in a manner that makes it come alive for the reader.

I had mixed feelings over the relationships in this book. I think nowadays it is looked upon as nothing for two people of mixed heritage to marry. But back then things were a lot different and this was seen as almost a sin. Personally I felt bad for Jesse and I had no problem with the growing friendship between Jesse and Shiloh. Jesse has gone through so much heartache and still tries to be strong but it is hard. Shiloh was a great female character and I loved her attitude.

If you want a good historical book that doesn't gloss anything over, this is one you will want to pick up. I can't wait for the third book in the series!
Available May 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group
