Enchanting use of language - its as if the author wished to make a book in the style of Shakespeare - complete with middle-English style and a nod to the Bard's banter...of course, it doesn't live up to the Bard's mastery, but its different enough from the average offering to be appealing.

The problem with this book is that the plot is revealed in the first 20 pages, so reading on to resolving the conflicts is only pleasant because you're just enjoying the language.

Finally, I do like the author, Stasheff, but I would tell others to try the Her Majesty's Wizard series (that's the first book), rather than this Warlock series. The warlock series is a lot less charming.
