This book had some humor, but I never found it laugh out loud funny. The heroine, Emma, has some family issues, namely her sisters' weddings and her nagging mother, and that took up a great deal of the plot. Now, if that's your thing, then great, but I found that aspect of the book rather cliched and I feel like it interfered with the romantic aspect of the story. So, I'm not saying that's good or bad, it just wasn't for me.
What did work in this book was the banter between h/h and how relatable I found the heroine. She's a sociologist with a doctoral degree and a professorship, and as someone who also works in academia, I found her outlook on romance and family to be very similar to how academics approach life (no feelings, lots of logic).
Bottom line, I loved the romance and wish the story focused more on the h/h relationship than the family relationships.
