This is the 1st of a new Victorian mystery series. It grabs your attention from the first page and keeps it until the end. The book is rich in history and events of the time, eg: The Irish Home Rule,religious and social prejudices,especially toward new immigrants will find this a very interesting read.
The main characters of Barker and Llewyln are revealed slowly, with just enough information to keep the reader interested to know more.
Those of us who like Sherlock Holmes, and other historical mysteries set in this time period will enjoy this book.
