Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Agent Melina Shepard decided on her own to go undercover as a prostitute in hopes of catching the person who is kidnapping them. Instead, Melina comes very close to being the next victim. FBI Agent Jerrod Ramsay shows up. He has cases of missing prostitutes in other states and believes the man who tried to take Melina off the street is the same guy. As Melina and Jerrod work together, she is called out on another case. A little girl has been found in the back seat of a wrecked vehicle. Inside the trunk is a jar of severed fingers. Now it looks like there may be two serial killers in Nashville.
This is the latest book in Mary Burton's Criminal Profiler series. This one didn't work for me. We had two killers running around Nashville. Melina and Jerrod were working both cases. Of course, one case ends up connecting to Melina's past while the other killer has targeted her as his next victim. I had a hard time keeping the cases straight in my mind, especially when we were in the killer's head. On top of that, the romance between Melina and Jerrod came out of left field. I felt like the author just stopped the story and inserted a sex scene.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Mary Robinette Kowal. I thought her male voices were laughable. If you are planning on reading this story, stick to the physical book. My rating: 2 Stars.
