I was very excited to read this. Keith DeCandido wrote the stellar Serenity movie novel, so I was anxious to see how he would do with Star Trek and one of my favorite characters, Q.

This is a good book, don't get me wrong. DeCandido does a great job with Q and the crew of the Enterprise. However, I can't help but feel it's a pale imitation of Peter David's Q-Squared. Too much of the book felt like it had been done before in David's book. While I enjoyed the overall story, the idea of Q and multiple universes, timelines and alternate Enterprise crews was done before, and better.

I encourage you to read this, as it is a great Q tale, but if you've read and loved Peter David's Q-Squared multiple times, then you may feel..."been there, done that".
