If you're a fan of the true crime genre, you can't go wrong with this one! It paints the full picture, beginning with Fred and Rose's respective childhoods and mental states and continuing through the trial. Like all good true crime novels, this one gives the nitty gritty facts and gruesome details, but doesn't supply so much gore that nothing is left to the imagination. Often, what you picture in your mind is far worse than the reality, so reading a book that allows for a little of your own interpretation is particularly juicy. In the end, I found myself a little more sympathetic toward Fred, strangely enough - not, of course, that I was terribly sympathetic towards these monsters. A must-read for true crime fans!
