Book Review of Dead Man's Blues: A Novel

Dead Man's Blues: A Novel
Helpful Score: 1

This is a good 2nd book in this series. This one takes place in Chicago in 1928. In the very beginning our young Louis Armstrong hops on a train leaving New Orleans to join a band in Chicago. Chicago is full of violence and corruption during this prohibition era. Al Capone summons his old friend Dante the Gent a rumrunner from NY to find a traitor in the ranks but Dante has his own secrets and issues and doesn't want to be back in Chicago. There are some brutal scenes but it is well done and the mix of fact and fiction in the time makes for good reading.
