From School Library Journal:
Grade 3-4 - With gentle humor and understanding, Caseley offers another glimpse into the lives of the Kane family. This time readers see events unfold through the eyes of ten-year-old Chloe. She discovers that being the oldest child often has its disadvantages. When the fourth-grade class is assigned to write a personal narrative expressing feelings, she is at last able to vent her anger and frustration. When her mother sees Chloe's paper, she becomes aware of her daughter's feelings and the family makes necessary adjustments. Chloe is an appealing character who matures and grows as the book evolves. She is candid, outspoken, and self-assured. She relates to people with sincerity and openness and lives her life with aplomb. The mother is also multidimensional and grows in understanding as she makes a sincere effort to see her children as individuals with different needs. The plot unfolds at a rapid pace, is cohesive, and is full of surprising, yet believable, humorous epi sodes. --Alexandra Marris, Rochester Public Library, NY
