Back of Book: How do you guard a man who passes off anonymous threats on his life as mere foolishness? That's Ghote's challenge. Sent to a remote part of India on the pretense of helping Judge Asif with his memoirs, the Inspector finds total non-cooperation, a lunatic son, a militant American priest, an editor of a leftist newspaper...this is a classic whodunit.

I say: Whodunit, indeed. Lots of clues, well hidden and subverted and a challenging, intriguing plot.
