Western author Bill Gulick capably turns his hand to western farce. Gorgeaous Mrs. Massingale leads the feminist/temperance contingent, Colonel Thaddeus Gearhart likes to think he is in control of the military post, Mr. Wallingham wants to deliver his wagon train of whiskey to Denver before the hard winter sets in, the indians want to intercept that wagon train - mix it all together and you have one wild, well conceived, hilarious western adventure. In the 1970s a movie was made from this book - starring Lee Remick and Burt Lancaster.
