I see what scene had some people so upset but I think it was totally in character for this hero. This is certainly one of the most tortured heroes I've seen to date. It won't be for everyone. If disturbing situations are distasteful to you you shouldn't read this book.
This book wasn't as polished as Linda Howard's books. I was pulled out of the story a few times by comments that could only have come from the author. If I were grading this as a teacher I would have to mark off for that but since I'm not I don't have to. I enjoyed it a lot and I don't care if it wasn't perfect.
I rate it an A with the qualification that it should be read at the right time of the month. :^D
