I enjoy reading about women traveling the world alone. Mary Russell, living in Ireland, is always restless. She goes from Africa to the West Bank, from the Sahara to Russia, from the Caribbean to South Africa, from Bosnia to the Arctic to Syria. Her travel isn't the airplane to hotel travel, either. It's bicycle or hitching with a sleeping bag and maybe, a one-person tent. Her writing gets the reader on the ground level with new peoples and cultures. It's quite a trip.
