Sherlock is called to help clear the name of a french soilder named Dreyfus, who was in real life falsely accused of treason and convicted based by his anti semitic military court. Holmes goes to great lengths to help right the wrong, even traveling to the infamous Devil's Island. The book was a very slow read, and is more of a historial politcal thriller peroid piece with Sherlock/Watson as merely observing the events.
