This is much better than McCray's Magic series. The writing is more straight forward and there is some very minor humorous dialogue. I think McCray can work a little harder at the dialogue.

I love the fact that time is not put into "Should I or should I not be with him?" type of thinking. It is definitely plot driven with erotic elements. It's dark though and not a light fluffy romance. Lexi and Nick are a great combination and both very strong. I'm not sure if they needed such similar tortured backgrounds though. That seemed a little contrive. Also great side characters, especially Lexi's family. I also love that they can kill anyone they want without repercussions. Sometimes it's nice to have the bad guys really get what they deserved without moralizing or justifying it.

For an S&M book, I think Lora Leigh does a better job at making it sexy in "Dangerous Games." But I think McCray focused on the negative aspects of it being warped rather than sexy.

I would definitely read more on this series and hope she continues it.
