This beautifully written book is about a story of teenagers, innocents, & the horror of life changed by those in their small town that do not think the family from Sri Lanka should be accepted. In their innocence, these young people accept the foreign girl, then in defiance of bigatry they protect her until finally all must choose sides. The interview with the author at the end added so much to the story, for me. As this story is based on a true story & should be read by all who truly don't understand how the South has not really changed much, even though many still try to bring change & peace. Having lived in the South for 10 years just a few years ago, this book rang exceptionally true to me.
