The America in this tale is not the one we know. The cities are at war protected by local militias. Evie Walker leaves the city to care for her dying father who has cancer. What she finds is strange as various individuals come to the door to ask for something from the basement. Evie has not been in the basement which she now discovers has a special room containing magical objects. With her father's death knowledge of what is there will pass to her.
Among the visitors is a gorgeous woman asking for something from the basement. There is nothing for you, she tells her. No mortal, she is Hera, a goddess and a former wife of Zeus who is seeking a magical golden apple. Called Discord's Apple it can seed chaos and destroy the world.
Another visitor is Alex (Sinon, the man who tricked the residents of Troy into opening the gates to let the giant wooden horse filled with their enemies inside the city walls). How did people like Simon and Hera get into Evie's life? One needs to read the story to find the answers. This is an interesting well written urban fantasy with a fun plot. Check it out.
